The Proposal

This is the proposed plan for the development.

 

What we know so far:

  • The proposed building is a 190 unit apartment complex​.

  • It will require 374 parking spaces, but the developer is only planning to install 215 spaces, both in a parking garage and new on street parking.

  • The other 159 cars would be allowed to park in front of residential houses on the street.  The no parking signs in the area would all be removed, per an agreement between the city and the developer.

  • The beautiful grassy hill and trees on the east side of Flint between Splash Cove and Wonderscope would be eliminated and turned into parking.

  • It is bordered on three sides by single family homes in a quiet, residential neighborhood.  The south side would border Splash Cove's parking lot, an area owned and maintained by our city tax dollars.

  • The complex will offer a mixture of studio apartments to larger units with more bedrooms.

  • The developer has said that the rent for studio apartments will start at $1,100 a month.

  • Only a select few residents nearby the property were made aware of this proposal prior to the initial meeting on 5/11/20.  

  • An in person meeting will be held soon for public comment.
