This is the proposed plan for the development.
This will be presented at the Planning Commission Meeting on 9/9/20:
The proposed building is a 189 unit apartment complex.
In the developer's original plans, it was clearly stated that 374 parking spaces (see first graphic below) were necessary to support the tenants, staff, and guests of the apartment complex. The new plans (see graphic below) allow for only 253, both in a parking garage and new on street parking.
The beautiful grassy hill and trees on the east side of Flint between Splash Cove and Wonderscope would be eliminated and turned into parking.
It is bordered on three sides by single family homes in a quiet, residential neighborhood. The south side would border Splash Cove.
The complex will offer a mixture of studio apartments to larger units with more bedrooms.
The developer has said that the rent for studio apartments will start at $1,100 a month.
The City of Shawnee is considering allowing the developer to take approximately 1.3 acres of Splash Cove's parking lot, which is owned by the taxpaying citizens of Shawnee. This may be an outright purchase or a lease.
